Disney Un-Disneyed In Color IX (D)

(Meant to post this yesterday but time's a-wastin', I can't put it off!  Too many things going to do!)

Hey!  Almost done!  Here are a few more Disney Un-Disneyed, this batch three very different types of royalty.

I thought about steering away from blonde but it just seemed to work.

Hair is one of my favorite things to draw soooo.

I intended for this to have basically nothing but white with slightest shades but this works too.

Sunday Sketches -- Disney Un-Disneyed IX (D)

(I guess I didn't post it early after all, ha.  But not late either!)

And thus we come to the close of the Disney Un-Disneyed Sunday Sketches.  I didn't do art for EVERY source material book/story, but I think I did most of them, at least the human characters and the most well-known ones.  This was a really fun project, not only for the reading, but also the drawing/designing.  I would like to color all of these eventually.

Commission: Ron and Nikki (D)

Time for a little break from the Disney Un-Disneyed series. This is a commission via ArtCorgi that I did a few weeks ago for a fellow to give to his ladyfriend for their anniversary/Christmas.  (Which causes me to realize now that I've never even posted my previous commission through them...  Maybe I'll post that one first.)  It was supposed to be inspired by The Princess and the Frog, but also be (more or less) an original design.  I like how it turned out, and it actually looks quite a bit like them!  I'm always surprised when that happens.

Happy anniversary, Ron and Nikki!  This is one of my favorite Disney movies too. :)

Princess Charlotte (D)

This has been in the works for months!  Ever since I did my Tiana portrait I've wanted to do a sort of companion piece of Charlotte.  In my head it was such an interesting contrast to Tiana, in character and color and feeling, so I thought it would be a fun project.  And then it finally happened and turned out just how I pictured it!  An explosion of pink!

It wasn't as difficult to get her look right as it was with Tiana six months ago, though a little research proved again helpful.  I don't think her wonderfully absurd dress is quite poofy enough, but I didn't want it to overwhelm the canvas too much.  Oh, Lottie, you'll get your prince one day.  You're certainly driven enough!

Like I did last time, just for fun, here's the black and white outline version.  You can color your own!  I'm sure back in the day when I loved coloring books I could only dream that one day I would be able to make my very own.  (Though my crayons these days are a little more sophisticated.)

Over the Christmas holiday we watched a couple of favorite recent Disney movies (it's been too long!), which inspired this piece featuring everyone's favorite New Orleans princess:

It was surprisingly difficult to get her face to a point where I was satisfied.  She was prettyish in the initial sketch, but she wasn't Tiana.  But then I did a little research and made a few adjustments, and there she was.  It was also fun to find and work with some new star brushes.

As a point of interest, and to provide a little insight into the process, here's the lineart that I finalized before adding color:

I really like how it looks.  If you feel so inclined, you can print this out or drop it into Photopshop and use this as a coloring page and do your own Tiana!  "Cranky waitress"?  Nonsense!
