Meow inc. #Damecember (D)

After #noshaveNovember, J suggested #Damecember and I was all about that idea. I've only done a couple so far but they've been great. Ladies are fun to draw.

Michelle Pfeiffer is the best Catwoman. Fight me.

Princess and Pirate inc. #movember (D)

I was sorry to hear about William Goldman's passing a little while ago. What a writer.

I've also wanted to color this for a while and hey, it's even on trend for #movember. When I was a kid I thought the 'stache was gross but he rocks that look.
Sketch version from September 2017:

#noshaveNovember 2018 (D)

Moving on from Inktober, #noshaveNovember was a solid opportunity to draw a lot of great facial hair, including on this fellow, who I did not envision as a redhead in the sketch but who ended up maybe channeling Bill Weasley.
P.S. Stop it, JKR. Just all of it.

Revolutionaries and Monarch (D)

Last weekend I went to see Hamilton in SLC and it was just what I expected and also had lots of surprises.  I did some arts which were appreciated on Instagram by the actors!

Li'l Moana and Flounder (D)

New commission undertaking!  Could turn out to be a fun continuing project.
A look at the process.  I like the sketch best, ha.

7 APRIL 2018 UPDATE:

The pins have arrived!  I think they turned out pretty great.

Happily Ever Two Weeks Later (D)

A couple weeks ago I realized with a pang that in our busyness and wrangling of kids J and I totally forgot to take our traditional Happily Ever After photo at DCA... so I decided to just take care of that the best way I knew how. A little late-night Valentine's Day P.S. as February rolls into March.

And it just so happens that some family went a couple weeks after we did, so this is as close to a personal photograph of the actual time we were there as I could hope for. Thanks, Jack et al.!

Learning To Dance (D)

We introduced the kids properly to The Little Mermaid as part of their Disneyland preparation and they were suitably impressed.  I've had this drawing in my head for three weeks at least.

Like An Anthem In My Heart (D)

I decided to experiment with my first-ever speedpaint for this one.  ~45 minutes, though it could have gone on for ages.

Sunday Sketches verion
That's it for #TGSbyDrew for now!  Itch definitely scratched.

Three Ladies and Mister Carlyle (D)

I really need to get J in here to post some of her Greatest Showman arts, they are really marvelous.  But in the meantime, here's a series of three ladies in fabulous costumes and varying moods, followed by a handsome fellow in a tuxedo.
Never, never!
This Is She!

Breathtaking View
I was having so much trouble with this one that I almost gave up completely pretty early on but I'm glad I stuck it out.
Sketch version 2 (version 1 will never see the light of day).  Even relying heavily on ref I find his face very challenging to get right.

Our Hands Our Tied (D)

I hope you're not tired of my TGS arts, because, well, even if you are... I'm not done yet.  This looks... almost exactly how I pictured it in my head.

I Wasn't Born This Morning (D)

I've been working on this for a few days experimenting with a new emulation style for an upcoming commission prospect. Does it happen to remind you of any well-known contemporary movie artist's style?

I relied pretty heavily on ref but the real test was the painting look and feel (this article was really useful).

And the other side of The Other Side, because everyone knows this guy is the real star of that scene:

A Million (D)

The obsession continues.  I really need to get J in here to post hers too, they are amazing!
I enlisted Instagram to help make my work in progress version a little more dynamic and they were really helpful!  For comparison's sake here's the sketch:

Sunday Sketches (In Color!) -- Dumbo and TQM (D)

We properly introduced the kids to Dumbo this weekend.  So much appeal in this character design and animation, it's just amazing.

Barnum (D)

Ladies and gents, this is the moment you've waited for...

You Can't Stop It (D)

Last night I finished the last 20 minutes of Hairspray Live! on the old DVR. What, doesn't it take you over a year to watch a televised version of one of your favorite musicals?

Christmas 2017 Commissions (D)

Here are some of the results of my Christmas commissions sale:
Instagrid!

For Taylor
For Maci
For Katie

For Nick

For Steve
Also for Steve!
For Lisa
Thanks, everyone!  I had a lot of work to do there at the end of the year but it was fun to do a variety of styles and subjects, and I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've ever drawn Amy Winehouse or the inside of a 747 cockpit.
