I was getting ready to blog about Christmas and then I remembered we didn't have a family photo from the day so I took this sketch I did and painted it and voila. Close enough.

Meet the Artist 2017 (D)
I was actually planning on doing this at some point but then I was tagged on Instagram so that sealed the deal! Yay for art memes and harmless bandwagons. So, 👋 everyone.
I want to do another one just do I can get more specific or add more things to each side (like pizza and Survivor/hypocrites and being bored). Also if I did it again I think I would trade cookies for sticky rice and Hmong eggrolls. Qab kawg. And I can't believe I neglected apostrophe abuse on the left side... I'll just make myself feel better by lumping that in with bad writing.
J has done these in the past, maybe she can be persuaded to post one.

Fresh Figure Drawings for December 2016 (D)
A pretty varied set for this month.
I was a little loose with my definition of figure drawings this time around, which was fun for a change.

Inspired by a pending evening at the Yule Ball |
Santa-inspired without reference (obvious?) with a touch of While You Were Sleeping |
Angel Emulation (D)
Inspired by the whimsical, ethereal work of the recently departed James C. Christensen, a morning sketch turned painting attempt with a so-so acrylic brush tool effect thing. I was sorry to hear about his passing, he was one of my favorite artists from my formative years.

Disney Un-Disneyed In Color Kickoff (D)
A few years ago I did a series of sketches based on the source material for Disney's animated movies and I'm finally making good on my plan to paint them. This project will last for most of the year, and pieces probably will be posted in batches, but I did want to kick things off by sharing the one that started them all.

Christmas Painting Practice (D)
Over Christmas I did some paintings based on a few recent entries in my digital sketchbook, so here they are:
If our cat were a human he would obviously be a samurai |
Hipster Clark Kent would totally wear an S-shirt because #irony |
I wanted to paint a pretty lady so Italian model it is. |
