I don't believe I've ever posted this, so here you go. This was a Christmas gift for my mom almost a decade ago.
Merry Christmas, everyone.

Trio of Commissions (D)
Three very different commissions! I'm actually running an end-of-year sale on them but none of these three were really included in that, ha.
Giovanni and Co. A car! So outside of my comfort zone, but fun. |
Penny Dreadul lineup for superfan Jeff. I actually know next to nothing about this show so this was fun. |
Anniversary gift via ArtCorgi. A Disneyland proposal? That I can relate to. |

Mister and Missus C (D)
Because who hasn't imagined young and hip Clauses? I drew this almost a decade ago and have been meaning to paint it for years. And now I finally have! Once framed it made a great white elephant gift.

29/43 Years (D)
It was my parents' anniversary yesterday! I did this some years ago but I still like it.
I should probably draw in pencil more.

James Tee (D)
There's been Star Trekking going on in our house lately. Here's a quick painting of a quick sketch I did, which I think actually resembles the subject! It's always nice when that happens.

Cozy Cozy Christmas Choir (D)
I'm in a (couple of) community choir(s) this year and tonight was our first concert! I did the artwork for the program cover, so here it is. Cozy cozy.
Keep one eye open for a familiar model. |

Moana of Moto Nui -- Now With More Maui! (D)
I saw Moana! I loved it. I think I'll like it even better when I see it again. Anyway, unlike the last few Disney animated movies, I was actually inspired to do some fanart for this one before seeing it:
And then of course I did some Sunday Sketches after actually seeing it.
Away away.
(Incidentally, I finally saw Finding Dory on the same day and found it thoroughly, and ironically, totally forgettable.)
UPDATE 6 February 2017:
I did one for Maui too. Our kids love his song, which has grown on me (though some of the lyrics still seem lazy), and his design has grown on me too (probably helped by doing these studies). The shapes! The tattoos... And a great subject for Manhair Monday, which is interesting because early design sketches show him as bald, surely inspired by The Rock.
She's so cute. |
And so fierce. |
16-year-old me would be shocked that I didn't see it on opening day but he would be pleased at opening day splash-of-color sketches. |
That Maui is tricky. He took three fails before I was more or less okay with him. |

Commission Announcement! (D)
Hey everyone! In the continuing spirit of Black Friday (and the anticipatory spirit of Cyber Monday) I'm having a big Christmas special on artwork. From now until the end of the year I am offering half price commissions. That's right, order your own commissioned art in any of these styles (or more!) and get 50% off. Just comment with questions.

Fresh Figure Drawings for October 2016 (D)
Oh wups, I never posted these.
Not too many ladies this time around. I'll have to fix that in November.

A Dot Ham and Others (D)
I'm not the biggest fan but I've had this in my head for months. I didn't mean for it to escape when it's kind of topical but I guess it worked out that way.
[Obviously inspired by the musical but not necessarily meant to be exact portraits of the original cast.]

Owen and Claire (D)
We started watching Jurassic World the other night so I did some quick painting practice. I love this movie so much, maybe even as much as the original. 😲
(Also, this is my second attempt at drawing Chris Pratt and he eludes me every time. Hey Chris, why be you so hard to draw??)

Inktober 2016 (D)
Yesterday I finished my very first Inktober, which was fun and challenging and I'm glad I don't have to scan anything tonight and I'm probably going to throw out this sometimes leaky pen soon. You can also see these individually posted along with the prompts on my Instagram art gallery @drewgrahamart.
Here's one I especially liked so I painted it:

Fresh Figure Drawings for September 2016 (D)
Time for another batch of digital Figure Drawing Friday selections!
There's a gold mine of free figure drawing models out there. Live is better, but these are definitely better than nothing!

Crazy Expressive Eyebrows (D)
We started watching season 2 of #Poldark last night. I'm pretty sure these two were cast for their wild hair and crazy expressive eyebrows.

Think of Never Dying (D)
We've been watching/listening to a lot of Phantom this week.
Here are a few older sketches that I ran across the other day. I was so into this movie when it was new.
We had way too much fun and laughed way too much while watching this, but I guess things change over time.
Special thanks to Sierra Boggess, a.k.a. the best Christine ever. |

Herc's New Look (D)
So the Olympics kept me thinking about Hercules and it'd been forever since I drew him (though goodness knows I drew him plenty back in the day, though very ill indeed I'm sure), so:
And then I thought he looked lonely so:
And I was thinking it was probably time for him to get a trim since his style was looking a bit dated:

(along with a couple other hairy fellows, including some sketches of yours truly on various mornings) |
And THEN I thought I should flip him back the way I drew him in the first place and give him the whole marble bust treatment since he seemed to be asking for it:
Thanks for everything, Herc, it's been a real slice.
